Style Rewind

It’s amazing the way styles repeat themselves.  I sent a few of my coworkers down memory lane with this outfit. Some of them recalled wearing similar attire when they were younger and that this was the look that most girls wanted. When I saw this dress in the store, I was drawn to it because of the vintage/ old school vibes it gave me. I threw my hair up in a bun to keep in tune with the style.  I added this necklace that I got while in the Bahamas earlier this year. I think it was an unexpected twist that gave my outfit a modern finish.

A Little Bling

One of my favorite trends that I’ve seen as of late are the daytime sequined looks. If you don’t mind attracting a little more attention than usual then I would highly suggest including sequins in your wardrobe.

Wear sequins embellished sweaters, hats, bags, or jewelry.  Be sure to only wear one sequined item at a time. Choose sequins in different colors. You don’t have to wear the typical black sequined garb. Also remember to pair sequins with more casual attire so that your look isn’t over the top.

Frilly Things

It’s undeniable that I’m a girlie girl. I love frill and shimmer. At times it can be overkill but I try to make sure there’s balance. I thought by wearing neutral tones that it would make my look strong and powerful but that I would be able to maintain a feminine look. Sometimes being a woman is so complex.

Here’s one of my favorite style inspirations. She always manages to look classy but daring.

The New Mini Skirts – Maxi Skirts!

Maxi skirts will be sticking around through the Fall. You can set aside your minis for the upcoming season. The maxi goes well with a buttoned down shirt either tucked into the skirt, tied up at the waist, or with a fitted knit sweater. You can even wear them now with a t-shirt or a tank. Since I am not that tall I like to wear these skirts with heels for height and a chic look. After ransacking racks at my usual thrift shop spots I found a few skirts that I couldn’t pass up. All skirts were purchased for under $20. I will definitely be wearing these skirts in upcoming blogs.

One thing to keep in mind is to make sure that the skirt sits comfortably at your waist. If your skirt sits above your waist you can risk looking like you are bulging through your skirt and feel confined in it. Make sure that you buy maxi skirts that fit comfortably. I’m speaking from near passing out experiences due to poor circulation and inability to breathe.

I urge you all to try this look.

Check these maxis that I found online. All are under $20. Click on the picture to be linked to the retailer.
