Red

At the risk of looking like a huge stop sign I wore this blazer. I had fussed over what to wear it with and thought that since it’s such a powerful color that it could stand on its own. I wore these plain gray cargo pants and black top because they offer a casual look. The red blazer gives them oomph and makes for an exciting outfit.   Red is such a statement color.  Lately I’ve seen blazers of different colors, textures and patterns. I think moving forward in 2012 that we will see more of this trend.

Pleasing to the Eye

H& M – Spring Looks

The colors put me under a trance. I like the classic designs matched with great colors. I know that some people find black and gray to be the most flattering colors but I like colors that  warm up your skin tone. Blazers, shorts, billowy tops, and floral prints will reign supreme this Spring in their collection.

Feather Mani

These are some funky nails. I haven’t seen anything like it before. This looks easy enough for me to pull off without goofing up. I guess feathers are in. I always see the feather extensions in the store but I’m too scared to buy them. If I do buy them and don’t like them I can use them on my nails…Waste not, want not.

Earring Cuffs

As seen in the Zoe Report, these earring cuffs are neat and extremely affordable. You can buy them here. They give the look of multiple piercings but there is no pain.  I like the idea of being able to put them on when I’m feeling like a punk or daring and then getting rid of them when I’m not in the mood.

Steve Madden Shoes – Resort Collection

Lately, I’ve been crushing on cute shoes. These are no exception. I’m big on heels. I think they look glam and they dress up any outfit. These are fun sandals for a winter getaway. I have seen women wearing sandals with tights lately. If it’s not too cold or wet out this could be a good look to consider.

ShoeMint

The talented and trendy Rachel Bilson has joined forces with Steve Madden to create ShoeMint. The collection prides itself on its craftsmanship and materials used to create it. By creating a style profile you can find the style that best suits you. Each month you will get an exclusive look at shoes picked for you based on your style profile. I think the textures and styles are perfect for the holiday season. My favorite shoe is the Pauline in wine and black suede (shown above).

For the next day you can receive $20 off your first pair using this code –> SHM20.

There’s something about the holidays that makes me want to get gussied up.

Non- Buyer’s Remorse

Image

This has been a wonderful weekend. I spent some quality time with family. I also had an opportunity to do a little shopping. Now, I’m kicking myself for not purchasing this stunning black Calvin Klein cardigan with the leather front. It was on sale too. I should have jumped at the opportunity to add this to my wardrobe but I couldn’t justify buying another sweater (even though it was gorgeous). Now I’m here with non-buyers’ remorse. Though I commend myself for not over indulging but I would’ve looked freaking great in that sweater.

Have you ever deeply regretted not acting on a great shopper-tunity? If so, share your experience below.

Give Thanks to the Troops

I was so happy to see all the support being given to the troops, nobly defending and honoring our country. I am so gracious for their sacrifices.

Around town they had so many events to show support. While strolling through the Copley Mall I observed a station setup for
folks to write holiday cards to the troops. What a great way to boost morale…There was also Boston’s annual Veteran’s Day parade. I also learned about Trees for Troops. Individuals can buy trees that will be donated to military families. Learn more here: www.mahoneysgarden.com.

I hope you all are enjoying the weekend and do something to support our troops.

Let’s Get Leggy

Today in the spirit of Halloween I decided to wear bright and festive tights. Generally,  I think that tights are a perfect winter accessory. I tend to wear dark and dismal colors in the winter months. The pop of color will help brighten your winter attire.  Donning fun tights will help to bring you out of that winter gloom and add pizzazz to your wardrobe.

                                                HAPPY HALLOWEEN DOLLS!

                                                               Did you Know?

Leggy dolls, are MOD 10 inch fashion dolls that were released by Hasbro in North America, Polistil in Europe and Shiba in Japan from 1972 to 1973. They have a very exaggerated appearance, even though they are 10 inches tall. They are very thin dolls (the waist is less than 0.75 inches across) and they have 7 inch legs. Each doll in the standard editions came packaged on a large blister card with a stock outfit, pants, platform shoes and a plastic stand. Their unusual appearance makes them good models for a variety of fashion doll clothing, including their own line of MOD fashions. ( Source: Wikipedia)

Military Chic

I have a soft spot for military inspired clothing. I like that they are structured pieces is classic and never goes out of style. I think military pieces worn by women convey strength and toughness. Maybe going full fledge military isn’t for you. You can choose to wear only one article of military inspired clothing i.e., a jacket or hat.

Romantic Panache

I define this look as feminine and soft. I often imagine living during the Victorian Era when women wore long skirts, hats, petticoats  and gloves. Even the elegant hairstyles of that period screamed romance. If you’re interested in creating your own romantic look try implementing the following things to your ensemble: ruffles, lace, and pleats. These can add elements of whimsy. Wearing soft colors and  luxurious fabrics like chiffon and silk also exude femininity not to mention are also forgiving on the body. Vintage jewelry or delicate and dainty pieces are a nice way to complete the look. If you aren’t into this über feminine look try wearing a flowy dress with a jacket and/or oxfords to tame the frill. You can also opt to add a bulky belt to make the look modern.

Furry Things

Furry shrugs and vests have been seen everywhere in style mags these days. I was given this vest last year as a birthday gift. I was a little shy about wearing it because I didn’t want to attract too much attention but I thought what the heck and wore it. It kept me warm and I loved the added edge and glamour it provided to my ensemble. I can see this easily becoming one of my Fall clothing staples.
