A New Year A New Perspective!

It’s the last friday of the year which is bitter-sweet. I am looking back on the year and reflecting on the things that I’ve accomplished and have yet to do. My resolution aren’t specific goals but are more general goals. I hope to be more optimistic and to be instinctive. I feel that this will be conducive to my productivity and will make me happier. Honestly, I didn’t do too much this past year. I feel like a bit of a slacker so next year I’m turning it up a few notches and plan to “seize the day”.

What are your resolutions?

And btw, I hope you all have a great New Year’s eve. Be safe!

Adventures in Blogging

Hello darlings. I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend. It’s amazing how quickly time passes. I definitely tapped into my domestic side by doing laundry and baking all day yesterday. I wore this outfit last night for a casual night out despite the freezing temps. I still dared to wear shorts. I don’t know why but I like the look of shorts in the winter paired with more conservative pieces. I think the key to achieving this look is infusing knits and / or blazers, items that are for the colder weather into your look.

So, I was nominated for Versatile Blogger of the Year by Styln (http://stylesource01.wordpress.com/). She’s been very supportive. I’m so appreciative of the honor (thank you!!). Everyone should definitely visit her blog. Her posts are inspiring and truly versatile. I must comply with several rules for consideration of this coveted title (Nominate 10-15 fellow blogger; Inform the bloggers of their nomination; Share 7 random things about myself; Thank the blogger who nominated me, and Add the Versatile Blogger Award Pic on my blog post).

So here goes…

 –>>7 Random Things About Me:

I’m very indecisive, love the Twilight Saga ( I get a lot of flak because of this), deathly afraid of mice and heights, love to bake, once ate 6 donuts in one sitting, (not as actively as I should ) pursuing acting and modeling, and I can’t sleep without the TV on.

Purrfection

Initially I felt like Peg Bundy(minus the big hair)when I realized that I was wearing multiple articles of clothing containing cheetah patterns. I quickly got over it when I considered that Peg Bundy wouldn’t wear knee highs or a sleek high ponytail. But I do give her props for fearlessly wearing spandex leggings and for always wearing sky-high peep toes. I can’t talk about Married with Children without mentioning Kelly Bundy. I remember watching that show when I younger and wanting her sexy rocker look or maybe it was more like sexy rocker groupie. Either way I envied her cool style.

Hanging Tough

I feel like I’m tapping into my inner tough girl with this look. I can’t help but to feel assertive in my flannel shirt, army inspired vest, and bandanna head-piece. It actually makes me think of the classic film the Outsiders, that starred a baby-faced all-star cast. All I need are a pair of Converse Chuck Taylors.

Unpredictable

Lately the weather has been truly unpredictable. We lucked up and received beautiful weather today…almost reminiscent of spring.  I fought the urge to dress in complete warm weather gear and instead mixed and matched warm weather clothing with more seasonal pieces. I wore this exuberant colored cap sleeve dress with a taupe shirt/ jacket thingumajig, tights and booties.

Thrifty

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. This weekend I set out to do some thrifting.  I thought that these bell bottoms and vintage top would be proper for the occasion.

Thrifty Sales Alert!

Now through 11/9 get 30% off jewelry at Forever 21.

At Filene’s Basement you can shop and receive 25% off clearance items. It’s a shame that they went bankrupt and will be closing 4 locations in Mass.

Shop bebe and receive 30% off already reduced merchandise. Also, for a limited time you can receive 40% off full price items.

Reality Check

I’m coming back down to reality after a spectacular birthday weekend. I partied! – Maybe a little too hard but it was my birthday. I’m refreshed today and ready for the week ahead.
I’ve been seeing a lot of girls wear ankle booties with skirts and dresses and decided to try the look for myself. This top is from American Eagle. It was a steal at only $4. Yes $4. I bought these booties from a shop in NY. Between all the street vendors and neat shops I can always find something great there. There is sometimes a stigma associated with hitting up the sales racks but I think sales are awesome. Without them I can honestly say that I wouldn’t have as much clothing as I do. Since it’s the end of the summer season you can find great sales at your local retailers.

Last week I mentioned this local up and coming jewelry designer. You can learn more about it at http://www.thechictherapy.bigcartel.com/.This wonderful necklace I’m wearing in this photo is from her line. The button earrings I wore last week are also from there.

I want to send a very special Happy Birthday message to my sister! It was great spending time with you on my bday and helping you celebrate yours over the weekend.

Last Summer Hurrah

Over Labor Day weekend I went to New York for a day and picked up a few cute items to help me go into the new season with style. Whenever I’m in New York I’m in awe of all the well-dressed people and the individuality. It always makes me ponder what life would be like if I lived there. However it was truly depressing when I went to Bloomingdale’s to check out the latest designer duds to be bombarded with Winter outerwear. Ugh! Snow and frigid temperatures are the last thing on my mind. I really can’t believe that summer is nearly over. I won’t be able to wear cute rompers, dresses, and strappy sandals I’ve worn over the last few months. So long until next Summer… When I returned from New York I spent the following day roving around Boston, admiring the beauty of the city. It seemed fitting to go for a hippy chic look. There’s something about the simplicity and versatility of a t-shirt that I covet. I wore cropped army green pants and this vintage belt that I absolutely love.
