In Limbo

03.19.13a

I have worn a mix of spring and winter clothing lately. I’ve tried to balance out my styles without having them favor one particular season. Like my clothing the weather is in limbo too. Yesterday it looked  warm and sunny but it was downright freezing out. When amid a change in seasons the transitional period is a difficult stage to get dressed. At this point, I’m done with winter (good riddance). I have some pieces that I instinctively choose to wear that work well for both warm and winter weather. They also  help me manage through these in-between phases. I love my cardigans, blazers and pashminas. They can be worn for any season. What are some of your transitional weather wardrobe pieces that you can’t go without?

Is It Monday Already?

Does it mean that this week started on a rough note, if I’m already anticipating the weekend? I’m trying to find  my Zen. After this long day, I look forward to attempting to find it with the aid of a glass of wine and leftover Italian food…oh and shopping for shoes online. Shopping can ease my pent-up stress. Don’t underestimate the power of purchasing cute shoes.

Since I didn’t feel that great this morning, I tried to dress better than I felt. I guess to trick myself into feeling good. These photos didn’t really capture the layers of the shirt well. I really enjoy two things about this shirt: 1) the fun pattern and 2) its non body hugging shape. It helped to hide my bloated tummy from all the food I (happily) ate over the weekend. This skirt also was a great tool to help me not feel so self-conscious about my physique as it also helped to camouflage. The fullness and long length of the skirt did make me feel refined

I’m going to try to be optimistic and hope that tomorrow is a better day.

Operation: Beat the Freeze

Today’s objective was to stay warm. Thus, I’m wearing my striped wool sweater, corduroy pants, and scarf. I decided to clothe myself in warm and soft items. Why no socks? I don’t know. My loafers fit better without them.

Hanging Tough

I feel like I’m tapping into my inner tough girl with this look. I can’t help but to feel assertive in my flannel shirt, army inspired vest, and bandanna head-piece. It actually makes me think of the classic film the Outsiders, that starred a baby-faced all-star cast. All I need are a pair of Converse Chuck Taylors.

So Much to be Thankful for

As we are on the brink of Thanksgiving I want to thank you all for reading my rants. Hopefully you find some of them useful. I want to also express my appreciation for my family and being able to spend the holiday with them. I truly am grateful for them and count my blessings every day.

My Thanksgiving wishes for you all:
“May your stuffing be tasty

May your turkey plump,

May your potatoes and gravy

Have never a lump.

May your yams be delicious

And your pies take the prize,

And may your Thanksgiving dinner

Stay off your thighs!”

I hope you all eat till your heart’s content! :)

Happy Thanksgiving!
