Glitz and Glam
Be sure to check out Maybelline’s 2012 calendar. It’s packed with makeup inspiration. Each month unveils a super bold, sexy, and creative style. Shiny and glittery pouts, lux lashes and colorful blushes – are all ways to breathe new life into your daily makeup routine with the help of Maybelline. I’m taking notes on how to recreate these looks at home.
Stella McCartney Hawaiian Spring Collection
In the past I hadn’t been a fan of Hawaiian prints but this isn’t your normal Hawaiian garb. These styles have appeal because they are modern and fresh. The tunics and harem pants are items that you’d find in any collection but the island flare puts them in a league of their own. Bursts of color and clean lines make this collection sensational. I can definitely see myself wearing these anywhere hot and sunny.
Cute Hair
I have to start by saying that I idolize and adore Gwen Stefani. She is a fashion pioneer, gutsy and demure. Her trademark glam rock style sets her apart from her peers. This hairstyle is another sensation out her fashion cupboard. I like that it’s whimsical and elegant at once. The high knot is appropriate for a night out or a day at work. It’s also simple to create and will continue to look great after a long day or night. You can also add hair pins or clips to amplify the style.

When Art Meets Fashion
Feast your eyes on these beautiful creations from Elle. These ready to wear pieces of art come from their gallery of 27 amazingly desgined fashions from the runway, home, and more. I picked the pieces that I liked the most to share with you. They are all brilliant and imaginative. I would KILL to have any of them in my wardrobe. (It’s funny the intense emotions one can develop over clothing.) These items also call to mind how fashion and art relate. They awake your senses and get you thinking.
Who knew fashion could be so deep?
Nicolas Ghesquière for Balenciaga
Delfina Delettrez
Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen
Fashion is, perhaps by necessity, in a world of its own – one that only rarely overlaps with anything resembling real life. This fantasy and exoticism is part of its appeal, of course. (Vince Aletti)
ShoeMint
The talented and trendy Rachel Bilson has joined forces with Steve Madden to create ShoeMint. The collection prides itself on its craftsmanship and materials used to create it. By creating a style profile you can find the style that best suits you. Each month you will get an exclusive look at shoes picked for you based on your style profile. I think the textures and styles are perfect for the holiday season. My favorite shoe is the Pauline in wine and black suede (shown above).
For the next day you can receive $20 off your first pair using this code –> SHM20.
There’s something about the holidays that makes me want to get gussied up.
Who wears short shorts
It’s hard to let some things go. Like my shorts…Over the weekend the weather was pretty delightful so I wore shorts. When the weather is cooler they look great with a sweater and tights. It’s easy fashion that yields a lot of style. I would recommend wearing corduroy, leather, tweed, or wool shorts. Texture is everything. Also, make sure that your top isn’t longer than your shorts. You don’t want it to seem like you’re not wearing any bottoms.

Tunics for All
Tunics are great for a couple of reasons. They cover up anything that you don’t want to show, are comfortable, and are flattering on all body types. Pair them with leggings, a pencil skirt, or cigarette pants.

Tis the Season…
I’m stoked to be able to wear boots. I hate initially when the season changes and not knowing what to wear. I battled with whether it was too early to wear boots but I think it’s now time. Some of my favorite styles this season are the worn and weathered, suede (booties) and the sexy over the knee looks. I think it might be a little soon for the thigh highs but there are a lot of choices to wear now.

Frilly Things
It’s undeniable that I’m a girlie girl. I love frill and shimmer. At times it can be overkill but I try to make sure there’s balance. I thought by wearing neutral tones that it would make my look strong and powerful but that I would be able to maintain a feminine look. Sometimes being a woman is so complex.

A Night of Glamour
Last night I attended the Fashion’s Night Out event at Saks Fifth Avenue. I had such a wonderful time. There were so many well-dressed Bostonians and the clothing at Yuna Yang’s fashion was to die for. I took a few pictures of the beautiful models there. It was weird eating and drinking in the store. I was in fear of spilling something on the pricey merchandise there. Luckily, I managed not to spill or knock anything over. I eventually made my way to Newbury Street. It was really cool to see all the luxury vehicles on display on the street. There was music and performances. It was totally worth staying out too late!
