Minty Fresh

It was love at first sight when I saw these pants. They are so relaxed and perfect for all day wear. I got a few comments on my outfit being fresh and springlike which is exactly what I was aiming for. It’s nice when you are able to reach your target. Especially on a Monday…It usually takes me until Wednesday before I get anything right.

Avni Fashions

Last week I had the pleasure of walking the runaway at an event hosted by Smiling Stiletto at California Closets. Styles were provided by Avni. All of Avni’s designs are organic and for the most part handmade. They are also dyed naturally using flowers. The dress and jacket combo I am wearing were colored with marigold. My dress was lightweight, relaxed and perfect for those scorching summer days. I absolutely adored the color as well. I also want to give kudos to Smiling Stiletto for hosting a fantastic event (as usual). You can learn more about the group here.

Originality

It’s funny how having a personal style blog makes you think that you have some sort of super ability at coming up with great outfit ideas. Yesterday two of my coworkers were on the same brainwave and sported the black and white look too and in a similar pattern. It was a Kodak moment.

Remaining Neutral

Dressing in neutrals doesn’t have to be a drag. Here are some ways I made neutrals work for me. By wearing neutrals in different hues you break up the look so that it doesn’t appear mundane. Try wearing different shades of tan or beige. Mixing crisp fabrics will give your look a polished look and help prevent your outfit from falling flat. If you crave a little color add a punch of color to brighten up your look.

Light and Free

What I love about the warmer months is the simplicity of  my style. While I do enjoy accessorizing and personalizing my style, I also like that the warmer weather inspires me want to wear simple styles. I tend to not overload on jewelry or other items. I want to feel light and free. A nice top, good pant and a sleek shoe are all this girl needs to feel like a million bucks in the warmer months.

One Tone Is NOT Monotone

Your look won’t fall flat if you wear one hue (head to toe).  By including garments that have embellishments you can give your look oomph and break up the monotony of your outfit. Try wearing colors that aren’t the exact shade too if you are a little weary of  wearing one color. You can also add texture to your look by wearing different types of materials that will help you in avoiding dull style.
